Higher Power And Still Low Weight
Most small electric outboards tend to be 1KW which claim to be equivalent to a 3hp petrol outboard. For many people, this is sufficient but certain situations require a more powerful outboard without the extra weight & complexity
The U2 fills the gap between these 1Kw outboards & the larger 3KW outboards that have a large external battery
The 2.5kW continuous power of the U2 enables some serious performance from this incredibly lightweight (17kg motor and battery combined) unit and enables planing speeds on small lightweight boats as we can see in the performance tables above.
When compared to the 4-6hp petrol outboards that this is really designed to replace, the U2 has a huge advantage over them when passing up and down from tender to yacht and taking in and out of your car. The 9kg motor, 8kg battery and 2kg transom bracket make this the easiest to use, properly powerful electric outboard on the market by some margin.

2.5 x the power of the ePropulsion Spirit Plus with a larger battery and lighter – the U2 only costs a couple of hundred pounds more
2.5 x the power of the Torqeedo 1103 with a larger battery and the same weight – the U2 only costs a couple of hundred pounds more

both motors use suitable external 48v batteries.
