The Momentum M10 tiller package can simply be put straight on to your boat and you can blast off – no tools required.
First, the incredibly robust and cleverly designed transom bracket is firmly clamped on to your boat.
Weighing in at just 22kg, it’s very easy to simply slide the motor on to the transom bracket.
Lock it in place using the simple but secure sliding clip – ensure that the red label is hidden to show it is firmly locked.
As there is only one cable for both power and data, all you need to do is:
- plug in to the motor then the battery
- turn on the battery
- plug in the safety kill cord
- twist the throttle and away you go!
Safety
Safety is paramount for us, so Momentum’s bespoke cabling ensures that it is impossible to touch live wires – until the cable is fully connected between the battery and the motor, there is no high voltage. It only becomes live once the motor and battery have spoken to each other via the waterproof and protected plugs, ensuring safe and reliable connectivity.

The prop is tuned for around 16 knots and we consistently hit 15-16 knots on these various boats.
Lightest 15hp system
With the 22kg (short shaft – 23kg long shaft) M10, with the 6kg transom mount and the 37kg MB6 battery, the Momentum M10 system is entirely hand portable and lighter than any other 10kW (or equivalent) outboard motor system on the market.

On small boats, every square inch is valuable so the MB6 battery is compact enough to be stowed away in a standard fuel locker while delivering the highest power density in its class.

Custom SPC DC motor
The M Drive motor development started with a custom-made stator assembly fully hand wound for maximum copper content with 99.9% pure copper windings before being fully potted and mated to an industry leading fine air gap SPM rotor.


Every rotor is then capped with a patented magnet retention cap before they are dynamically balanced on both ends of the rotor assembly for smooth vibration free operation.
The final part of the puzzle was to ensure a maintenance free seal for both the drive shaft and power / data cables used to connect the motor with the onboard trip computer and battery management system. Using multiple inline shaft seals, custom patented cable seal designs and high tolerance shaft machining ensures not only a powerful lightweight design but also a highly reliable low maintenance motor for many years of use.
M Drive motor design has been optimised for hydrodynamic efficiency, allowing for minimal drag and efficient water flow to the propeller.
Complex tech, simple operation
Designed for one man installation – as the lightest outboard motor in its class, the M-10 is the only 10kW (15hp) OBM designed to be hand-carried.
The custom-designed quick-release transom mount lets you leave the mount behind while detaching the OBM – resulting in the easiest mount-dismount process in the industry.

Flexibility and control with multi-position tiller






Locking the tiller in the up position enables the motor to be very easily lifted up when coming into shallow water or enables you to easily steer while standing up.
The safety button in the end of the tiller ensures that the user cannot accidentally go into reverse or straight to full power in forward.


Sustainability
How environmentally friendly are electric outboard motors?
Where it concerns greenhouse gases, the answer is it depends on how much you use it, where you get your electricity from and how frequently you replace parts.
But in many other aspects, the environmental benefits of electric outboards are very clear.
Not just CO2
Internal combustion marine outboards are unusually polluting beyond their carbon footprint.
Compared to cars, they are substantially less efficient, and lacking catalytic converters, so they emit multiple times the amount of carbon monoxide, NOx, hydrocarbons and particulates (P10 and P6).
Electric outboards have zero operating emissions.
Calculated from EU grid based emissions power kWh and based on 2,000 hour lifecycles, the Momentum M10 lifetime Operating Emissions are 4.8 tonnes of C02 compared to 13.8 tonnes for a 15hp, 4 stroke internal combustion outboard motor.
Eliminate water contamination
Exhaust discharge, fuel spillage and lubricants are all contributors to water pollution.
Internal combustion outboards discharge everything from from benzene, toluene, methyl tertiary butyl ether and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons amongst others into the water.
Momentum’s water lubricated, passively cooled system is fully sealed and discharges zero pollutants into the water.

Ultra lightweight and with a conscious design effort to reduce part count construction minimises the life cycle energy cost of an M10 outboard motor.
