Amulet: A Charm Restored
Author: Orrell, Bob
Saved from an inglorious end as a garden ornament, Amulet, a 26-foot wooden keelboat, amateur-built in Scotland in 1964, was restored and sailed to the Hebrides by Cumbrian-based author and former lighthouse keeper and charter yacht skipper, Bob Orrell. A humorous account of the author's love-hate relationship with the boat. After a series of setbacks, the restored Amulet was relaunched, but leaked alarmingly. For three months, Bob and Patricia, his crew, 'pumped their way around the Western Isles' until a surprise tow by a lifeboat off the stormy Mull of Kintyre miraculously cured the leak. B/w photographs. PB. 220pp.
